Beautiful tall trees! But not many long hikes. Enjoyed our stay. Very quiet and serene in the lakeside campground
This is a nice campground and state park. We camped 4 nights at site 42 in the Lakeside campground in a tent September 22nd - 25th. The showerhouse is located in the nearby Plainview Campground. We are surrounded by tall trees. I brought along my chainsaw and cut some firewood from the nearby woods. There is road that goes completely around the lake. There quite a few picnic areas, group camping areas, and shelter houses. There are 2 or more boat ramps and 2 or more fishing docks. You can rent a john boats and tour the lake or go fishing. The weather was beautiful. The trees were just beginning to change colors, so the scenery was awesome. It is a dog friendly campground.
Excellent tent camping with lots of shade. Good showers. Clean and well kept.
Very nice park. We were there just overnight during the weekday so the restaurant and other activities were not open. Still it's a very pretty area on the lake.
Stayed for one night in this campground. You drive between 2 corn fields on the way into the campground, which was interesting. We were in the Lakeside section of the campground. There was only electric hookups and a porta potties in our section of the campground. If you want to use the shower bathhouse you have to hike a good ways to the other campground. There were not any hiking trails that we could find or great phone signal in this park. We took a couple walks along the road through the campsites. If you have a boat you can go fishing or do stuff on the lake but where we were located the lake had a good bit of algae/moss so we didn't go swimming. They have a good number of swings on the playground and a book exchange box that was well stocked. There were not any dumpsters near the campground or at the dump station. The people around us seemed nice. It was fine for our family for a night but wish they had more amenities or at least a hiking and/or nature trail. The town of Marshall nearby is small but has a few places including a Walmart if you need to restock on anything.
Clean and well maintained campground. Camp hosts were incredibly friendly even with our unannounced late arrival. Would absolutely stay here again. Not full hookups but pull through (some gravel, some paved) and back in sites with electric, picnic tables, and a fire pit as well as a bath/shower house and a very nice and easily accessible dump station. Great campground to take a morning or evening stroll.
My family loves it here. Large sites that are easy to get into. There are a handful of pull through sites. Access to fishing. The only down side is cell service is horrible at this park. Do not plan on using a hot spot if you have any kind of work that needs to be done. Even calls and texts do not go through most of the time.
Very nice and quiet! Very well taken care of. The hosts were really nice and made regular rounds which I have rarely seen at other camp grounds. Everyone was friendly and respecful of other campers. Really enjoyed our time here and will difenintly go back!
